What is Brow Lamination - and how to do it yourself!
What is Brow Lamination?
Brow lamination is basically a perm for your brows, where a professional applies a setting solution to straighten them and set the hair laying in the various desired directions, which makes them appear fuller, tame, feathery and refined. Think: more like a flat-iron for your brows. This treatment lasts about six weeks.
How to laminate your brows at home (DIY)
Here at Mermaid Aloha, we have a product that is based on an at home hack and semi-permanent treatment and saving money, so we are excited to bring you this hack. If anyone is in need of tame, refined, straight brows, it’s me! As my mom likes to say, I inherited my grandfather’s curly brows (how embarassing!)
Now, in the past, I do quite a bit to keep them as tame as possible. I wax with cold strips at home in between and under brows and get threaded to maintain shape every 2 months or so when I notice my brows get crinkly-crimpy-curly. As a now-redhead, another thing I do is dye my brows. Not only to bring warmth to my face and match my hair, I think it thickens my brow hair for lack of a better term.
Also as a redhead, I’m constantly on the lookout for auburn coloured brow products. I do love Jane Iredale brow gel. It’s cruelty-free however pricy. Therefore, I was stoked to find this auburn brow color by Almay at Big Lots. It’s a type of gel lacquer. Now apparently, it’s a sort of semi-permanent stain you are made to peel off…However, I discovered if you are apply a very light application of this tacky goo, but it sets your brows right in place and totally makes there more substantial without having to peel. It even coats a cool sheen onto them. It’s great if you want a bold “Persian” look to your brows.
